A teenage boy was attacked and left needing surgery after a violent assault in Great Wakering. The 16-year-old was set upon on Shoebury Road at around 5.45pm on Saturday, 17 May.

According to Essex Police, the boy was approached by two males – described as either men or older teenagers – who confronted and assaulted him, leaving him with serious injuries.

He suffered broken teeth, a cut to his mouth, and other injuries to his face. He was taken to hospital for treatment and will require surgery.

The attackers are described as white, slim, and wearing either all black clothing or a black vest top with grey tracksuit bottoms. They fled the scene in a vehicle.

As part of the ongoing investigation, detectives are trying to trace a black VW Golf or Polo and a blue Ford Focus seen in the area around the time of the assault.

Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with CCTV, dash cam or doorbell footage from the Shoebury Road area between 5.25pm and 5.45pm to come forward.

Amie Mason, a local resident, commented on news of the incident. She said: “This is shocking! Our kids are not safe anywhere anymore.”

We are particularly interested in footage from the area between 5.25pm and 5.45pm. Please quote the crime reference number 42/67578/25.
