Police closed the A127 Eastbound at the Rayleigh Weir underpass today, after a car and its trailer overturned and blocked the carriageway.
The incident was reported to have also involved another vehicle involved in the collision although there were no serious injuries.
A recovery team was dispatched incident to clear the vehicles but the road was closed for a number of hours.
There were long queues behind the incident and on surrounding roads in the Rayleigh area whilst the incident was dealt with by emergency services.
One witness said: “I was travelling westbound on the A127 and I saw the trailer snaking across the road. Then it went over pulling the truck with it.”
Another witness, Alex Kay, added: “The occupants of the overturned vehicle were both okay thank goodness. I helped them climb out of their vehicle. The paramedics arrived within moments as an ambulance was already travelling just behind the incident.”
