Due to strong bookings and growing demand, Flybe, operated by Stobart Air, is adding 2,500 extra seats on its new routes from Southend Airport to France. The extra flights will meet the seasonal demand of their Rennes and Caen-Normandy routes during July and August.
The airline will operate 10 additional flights on its Rennes route from 26 July and an extra 18 flights on its Caen-Normandy route from 27 July. As well as additional flights on the Caen route, the service will now be available six days instead of four days per week, with services operating on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
Flybe launched its new daily service from Southend to Rennes in June and the airline aims to carry 50,000 passengers to and from Rennes in its first full year, increasing to 165,000 passengers within three years.
Earlier this month Flybe’s service from London Southend to Caen-Normandy started with aims to carry 18,000 passengers to and from Caen-Normandy in its first full year and 50,000 passengers within three years.
Simon Fagan, Chief Commercial Officer at Stobart Air said: “We are delighted with the popularity of our new routes and to announce the addition of seasonal flights from London Southend to Caen-Normandy and Rennes. The response from our passengers has been very positive and the demand on those routes has grown beyond our expectations.”
Roger Clements, Managing Director of Southend Airport said: “This is very welcome news for London Southend Airport which is further testament to the popularity of the airport for business and leisure travellers alike.”
