A HGV tipped over at the Tesco roundabout in Southend on the A127, spilling its load onto the road.
All emergency services were sent to the scene to deal with the incident, including firefighters, paramedics and police officers.
A spokesperson for Essex Police said: “We were called to reports that a lorry had overturned on Prince Avenue at just before 6pm at the roundabout near Tesco.
“This caused disruption to traffic in the area and there were some road closures in place while emergency services worked.”
