Drivers were urged to avoid the Kent Elms junction on the A127 today, December 4, after a major collision required all emergency services to attend.

Police, fire rescue and paramedics were all dispatched to the scene, which was close to Bridgwater Drive in Southend.

First Essex bus services X30 and 20 were disrupted due to the incident blocking part of the routes. Some school bus services were also affected.

The incident caused congestion on roads surrounding Kent Elms, including Bridgwater Drive, Rayleigh Road, Snakes Lane, Mountdale Gardens, and Kenilworth Gardens.

A spokesperson for Essex Fire and Rescue said: “We were called to a road traffic collision in Bridgwater Drive, Westcliff today at 3.57pm. Southend and Leigh crews released a casualty by 4.49pm and left him in the care of the ambulance service.”
