New Chopstix restaurant brings delicious noodle boxes to Southend High Street

A new Chopstix Noodle Bar has officially opened in Southend High Street, with the first 100 customers treated to a free portion of spring rolls.

The Pan-Asian restaurant and takeaway, which lets customers build their own noodle or rice box with a variety of toppings, opened its doors at 11am on Tuesday 12 August 2025. A queue formed ahead of the ribbon-cutting, reflecting the popularity of the chain in other parts of Essex and the UK.

Toppings on offer include Sweet & Sour Chicken, Salt ‘N’ Pepper Chicken, Caramel Drizzle Chicken, and a range of other bold Chinese-inspired flavours.

The Southend branch marks the fourth Chopstix Noodle Bar in Essex, joining others in Basildon, Chelmsford and Lakeside. It’s located at 172 Southend High Street, in a prime spot opposite TGJones (formerly WHSmith) and just two doors down from McDonald’s.

The store manager said: “We’re excited to open our new store to the people of Southend – we can’t wait to welcome everyone!”

Local resident Amy Whalley welcomed the news: “I’m excited to have a Chopstix in Southend, as I like getting it when I’m at Lakeside or London. They do nice noodles!”

The opening is part of Chopstix’s wider UK expansion plan, with more locations planned in busy high streets, shopping centres and travel hubs. The company currently operates over 150 stores nationwide.

Sam Shaw, Acquisitions Manager at Chopstix, said: “We have recognised huge headroom for further expansion across the UK as consumers increasingly seek out our bold, Chinese flavours over other high street staples.”

The Southend Chopstix store will be open 7 days a week from 11am until 8.30pm.
