New indoor fun park takes shape on Southend seafront

A brand new multi-million pound indoor fun park is being built on Southend seafront.

Replacing the old Blackbeard’s attraction next to Southend Pier at Adventure Island, the all-year-round indoor fun park will house novel and innovative new rides and attractions for children of all ages, under one roof.

The colourful new 1100 square metre centre, called Adventure Inside, is the latest project from the Stockvale Group who own various attractions on Southend seafront including Adventure Island, Sealife Adventure and Sands restaurant.

The indoor family fun park is scheduled to open in spring 2015 and Stockvale bosses say it will create around 100 new jobs.

Adventure Inside will feature a carousel, a drop ride, a pirate ship ride, a play centre, plus food outlets and a parent’s area, on two levels.

Managing Director of Adventure Island, Marc Miller, said: “We’re understandably very proud of this latest project and the fact that we’re creating yet more employment opportunities in Southend.”

The building’s steel frame has been erected, next to the Pier, with a curved roof giving it a distinctive shape.

Commenting on the construction process, Marc said: “We had the steel beams delivered to us late on a Sunday afternoon to minimise any risk of creating traffic congestion and delays along and near the seafront. Now that we’ve got all the pre-requisite parts, we aim to have the frame erected within the next three weeks and after that, the process of adding the exterior cladding will commence.”
