KFC has opened a new restaurant in Southend High Street – it is the 4th KFC in Southend.

The fast food chain, well known for its buckets of fried chicken, has over 20 restaurants in Essex with plans to open more.

The new restaurant has opened in the exact same unit at 86 High Street, SS1 1JN, after planning permission was recently granted by Southend Council.

The Southend High Street KFC is open from 10am to 11pm every day of the week for eat in, takeaway and delivery via Uber Eats, Just Eat and Deliveroo.

A KFC spokesperson said: “We have bold ambitions to have over 1,000 restaurants in the UK and Ireland by the end 2021.“It’s not just Santa who’s coming to Southend over the festive period! Watch this space…the Colonel is coming to town.”

The new High Street restaurant has recruited new Cooks, Team Leaders and Team Members.

The old KFC fast-food restaurant in Southend High Street closed in 2017 after a lease on the building expired. Previous operators of the franchise, Kefco Sales Limited, decided not to renew the lease. The yearly rent for the unit was £42,000.

Various forms of planning applications were submitted to make use of the vacant unit since the last restaurant closed in 2017, including plans for a block of flats.
