Police search for Southend man who’s wanted in connection with arson investigation

Police are appealing for the public’s help to help find a man they want to speak to in connection with an ongoing arson investigation in Southend.

The incident happened on 10 November 2024, and officers are now trying to locate Mark Cane, who is linked to areas across Southend, Leigh-on-Sea, and further afield in England.

Cane, 36, is described as around 5ft 9ins tall, with short dark brown hair and blue eyes. He is believed to have strong connections not only to Leigh-on-Sea and Southend, but also to Canvey Island, north Essex, London, Merseyside, and parts of Wales.

Police have not released further details about the arson incident at this stage, but are urging anyone who sees Cane or knows where he might be to come forward.

A spokesperson for Essex Police said:

“We want to speak to Mark Cane in connection with an arson investigation in Southend. If you see Cane or if you know where he is, please call us.”

Anyone with information about Cane’s whereabouts is urged to contact Essex Police on 101 or report it anonymously via Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111 or visiting crimestoppers-uk.org.
