There has been major congestion on roads approaching the Dartford Crossing bridge in Essex today.
The QEll Bridge was closed by traffic officers for a period of time in the morning while they removed a broken down HGV.
The bridge then reopened but severe congestion remained in the area throughout the day, with cars queueing back to Junction 28 of the M25 at the height of the traffic jam.
Ensign X80 buses were being disrupted and cancelled in the area due to the “ongoing traffic issues affecting the Dartford Crossing”.
The Dartford Crossing is the UK’s highest earning toll road. It brings in over £200million in revenue in 12 months – 20 years after it was supposed to become free.
