A violent fight in Southend city centre left two people seriously injured and sparked an emergency response, with one woman arrested and police looking for others involved.

The incident unfolded just after 6.30pm on Tuesday evening (3 June) in Warrior Square. Southend City Council’s CCTV team had spotted a disturbance involving a group of people and alerted then Essex Police.

Officers arrived swiftly and found two individuals had sustained injuries described as serious but not life-threatening. The area was quickly cordoned off as forensics teams began collecting evidence.

A spokesperson for Essex Police said:
“One woman was arrested at the scene on suspicion of a public order offence, assault, possession of an offensive weapon and criminal damage. Work is ongoing to locate others we believe to have been involved.”
