Southend provides the backdrop for new Travelodge TV advert

Adventure Island’s bumper cars were used in the advert.

Travelodge, the UK’s biggest independent hotel chain, has launched a new national television advert as part of a £25 million advertising campaign, with many of the scenes filmed in Southend-on-Sea.

The campaign, which is the company’s biggest advertising spend to date, features scenes shot across Britain including Southend Beach, Southend Pier and Southend’s Adventure Island fun park.

The advert highlights Travelodge’s new look, being delivered through a £57 million hotel modernisation programme. This new look is in place at the company’s 56-room Southend hotel at Warrior Square, after it went through a £250,000 refit last September.

The advert marks the company’s return to television after a four year absence. In addition to TV, the campaign also includes an extensive press, outdoor and digital presence.

Peter Gowers, Travelodge Chief Executive, said: “Our campaign inspires you to get up and go and explore all that Britain has to offer. Whether you are going to take the kids, leave the kids, or make more kids, there are now over 500 Travelodge hotels to base yourself in and thousands of new beds to get up and go from.”

The new Travelodge ad was also shot in areas of London, Manchester, Brighton, Pinner, Littlehampton and West Wittering. In the advertisement, you see a scenario of different people nodding off on their sofa in front of the TV and the fun they can have if they get up and go and explore Britain.
