A special event took place in Southend Highstreet today, to honor the heroes of D-Day. The tribute was dedicated to the brave men and women of D-Day 80 years ago.

The event was an immersive experience that transported visitors back to the pivotal era in history, with a fascinating display of World War II artifacts.

Among the display were allied uniforms, equipment, and weapons. A highlight was an impressive 25-pounder field gun, a crucial artillery piece that played a significant role in the war. Additionally, an array of military vehicles were exhibited.

There were lively reenactments featuring both civilian and military characters, offering a glimpse into the daily lives and roles of individuals during the 1940s. The atmosphere was further enhanced by performances from singers and dancers, who brought the era to life with their authentic renditions of 1940s music.

Cadets and veteran associations were present, offering an opportunity to engage with those who have a direct connection to the stories and history being honored.
