Sutton Road is going to be closed from Purdeys Way to Southend Road for up to 10 days, due to a collapsed sewer. The closure will be put in place from tonight, 14 March 2024.
A division route will be in place via Southend but is expected to add significant time to journeys.
Anglian Water have said contractors will be working 12 hours per day, 7 days a week, to carry out the emergency works.
Drivers are advised to plan ahead as long delays are expected between Rochford and Southend.
School buses that run between Great Wakering and Rochford may need to depart earlier.
