A Southend mother has issued an urgent warning to other parents after her son was rushed to hospital last night due to complications from vaping.

18-year-old Lewis was rushed into Southend Hospital last night by ambulance, after suffering breathing difficulties. He remains in hospital due to a suspected blood clot on his lungs.

Doctors reportedly said that vaping has caused his lungs to fill with fluid and his SATs to drop significantly, leading to the potential of a blood clot to form.

His terrified mother is pleading with people to stop vaping. Kelly said: “If you or your kids use vapes, STOP NOW!

“Lewis was put on oxygen, given IV steroids, IV pain relief, IV antibiotics, a nebuliser, oral morphine, had bloods taken a had a chest X-ray.

“He has been given blood thinning medication and antibiotics and is waiting for a CT scan. Lewis is a healthy 18-year-old but vapes daily.

“Please, please, please stop your kids, family or friends from vaping now before something like this happens to them! This is terrifying and could happen to anyone at any time!”
