Air Ambulance lands in Seaway carpark, after pedestrian hit by car

An Air Ambulance was called by paramedics who were responding to a serious incident on Queensway, near York Road.

A pedestrian was hit by a car, reportedly when they were crossing the road.

Multiple police officers, paramedics and doctors from the Air Ambulance were dispatched to deal with the incident and the patient.

A spokesperson for Essex Police said: “We were called to reports of a collision between a pedestrian and car in Southend at just after midday today (Saturday September 28). The collision is reported to have occurred in York Road at the junction with Queensway.”

The Air Ambulance was from the East Anglian Air Ambulance charity, with skilled Doctors on board who are qualified to give enhanced levels of pain relief and other medical procedures.

Also on board are highly skilled critical care paramedics from the NHS who fly with the charity. The NHS Doctors are seconded from their home NHS trusts.

A spokesperson for the East Anglian Ambulance Service said: “An ambulance, a rapid response car and the air ambulance were sent to reports of a traffic collision involving a pedestrian and a car at the junction of York Road and Queensway, Southend. One patient, a male in his 30s, was transported by road to Southend University Hospital for assessment and care.”
