A new coffee shop chain is planning to open in Southend High Street, taking over the former Post Office unit.

It will be the latest coffee shop chain to open in the High Street area, joining Starbucks, Costa, Cafe Nero, Muffin Break, Esquires, and others.

Now, a brand called Black Sheep Coffee is planning to open a new branch at the top of the high street.

Black Sheep Coffee already has nearly 100 shops in the UK and has Essex locations in Chelmsford and Colchester.

In 2017, the Southend High Street Post Office moved from the large unit to the upstairs of WHSmith, two doors away, as part of a drive to save costs.

Turtle Bay, a Caribbean-inspired restaurant chain, had been lined up in 2019 to take over the unit instead, but never moved in.
