Hamstel Road in Southend was closed today due to a burst water main.

Water was flowing from the burst pipe throughout the morning, flooding areas of surrounding roads in Southchurch with surface water.

The burst water main pushed up and cracked areas of the tarmac and pavement, which contractors will be repairing.

Multiple engineering teams from Essex & Suffolk Water were sent to the incident to deal with the leak.
