Victoria Avenue A127 was closed at Cuckoo Corner for a period of time after a car collided with railings and overturned.
No occupants of the vehicle were reported to be seriously injured but the Mercedes was left laying on its roof and blocking the road.
Multiple police officers were called to the scene to deal with the incident.
The vehicle was displaying learner plates at the time of the collision which are required by law whenever a vehicle is being driven by a learner driver.
The vehicle was eventually removed by a recovery company.
A mother of one of the occupants of the vehicle confirmed that the collision was a “freak accident”. She said: “There was no speed involved as confirmed by the police who are taking no further action. This was also confirmed by the two eyewitnesses who stopped to help my family and gave statements to the police.
“The officers there were incredibly supportive to all of us and I thank them and the people that stopped to help.”
