A man has been left with a head injury after he was assaulted in Southend town centre.
Reports first started to come in of a “serious assault” at around 9pm on Friday 4 January. The incident took place outside the Royal Grill fried chicken shop in Southchurch Road.
The popular chicken takeaway was quickly cordoned off, with police standing guard around the crime scene. Witnesses reported that two people were involved in a fight and at least one of them was seriously injured.
Police have now confirmed that a man in his 30s was found at the scene with head injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening.
A 31-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested on suspicion of GBH.
Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone who has CCTV, dash cam or doorbell video footage to contact them.
