easyJet flights return to Southend Airport, with more destinations to come

easyJet flights made a long-awaited return to London Southend Airport in May 2022, bringing back much-wanted connections to popular holiday hotspots.

The airline has reintroduced flights to Malaga and Palma de Mallorca, responding to strong demand from travellers in London and the east of England.

The return of easyJet is a major boost for the airport, which had been without the airline’s services for some time. Glyn Jones, CEO of London Southend Airport, expressed his enthusiasm for the airline’s comeback, calling it “a real asset” to the airport and a reflection of its strong appeal to travellers.

“In a recent and comprehensive London Southend Airport survey, Spanish destinations topped the list of places people most wanted to fly to in 2022,” Jones explained. “The return of flights to these hugely popular locations from our quick and easy airport benefited us, the airline, and the many people living in London and the east of England.”

Passengers were quick to share their thoughts on easyJet’s return and the routes they hoped to see in the future.

Patricia Holland highlighted the difficulties of getting to Southend after long-haul flights: “It would be nice if there was a short hop flight from Heathrow down to Southend! After eight hours flying into Heathrow, it was rough having to fight traffic for two hours or more to get home!”

Charlie Brookes is excited about easyJet’s return and hoped for more European destinations in the future. “I would also like them to fly to Berlin, Dublin, Warsaw, Kraków, Prague, and Turin. But whatever routes are available, it’s great to have easyJet back in Southend.”

The return of easyJet flights is a significant step in Southend Airport’s recovery, providing more choice and convenience for local travellers. The airline’s presence at the airport is expected to continue growing, with passengers eager for even more routes in the future.
