Pensioner dressed as a pumpkin brings Halloween cheer to Southend

A Southend pensioner named Ken has brought smiles to the faces of many local people after dressing up as a pumpkin on Halloween.

Wearing the bright orange pumpkin costume around Southend, he was spotted going about his daily business including walking through the High Street, waiting at a bus stop in Leigh and shopping in Hamlet Court Road.

Courtney Bullock, who works at a fancy dress hire shop, said: Ken is a wonderful regular here. We never charge him as he brings so much joy to people’s lives!”

A local woman, Dawn Charles, added:He is so sweet and brings smiles to so many faces.”

And Amanda Ken, who works at a bakers in Leigh-on-Sea, said: “He is the loveliest pensioner. It’s always a joy to see him in our bakers.”

He even stopped to take photos with some of the people who saw him. Eve Marie had a photo taken with Ken and said he was such a lovely man.
