A popular fish and chip shop in Southend has announced new initiatives aimed at supporting both frontline workers and local schoolchildren – as a way of giving back to the local community.
Rams Fish Bar, located in Woodgrange Drive, is well-known for its freshly cooked food and generous portions, with regulars praising the quality of fish served in “perfectly crispy batter”. Now, the family-run business is introducing a 10% discount for NHS workers, police officers, fire and rescue personnel, the RNLI and the Southend Coastguard as a thank-you for their service.
Customers simply need to show a valid form of ID when ordering to receive the blue light discount – or mention the discount when ordering in advance on the phone.
The owners say the offer is a way to acknowledge the dedication of people working in vital public services. “It’s important to us to recognise those who keep our community going,” said a member of the team. “We hope this small gesture shows our appreciation of the roles our emergency services play in Southend.”
In addition to the discount, Rams Fish Bar has stepped up to become the newest sponsor of Greenways Primary School’s athletics team. The shop has funded brand-new sports vests for the children, helping them take part in competitions with pride and confidence.
One of the family owners of Rams Fish Bar said: “We are proud to support our local school, Greenways Primary, by sponsoring their athletics team with brand-new vests! Seeing these talented young athletes wearing their new kits and achieving great results makes it all worth it. Well done team, and best of luck in your future competitions!”
As well as classic fish and chips, the takeaway also offers a range of freshly cooked burgers, crispy fried chicken and a wide range of sides. You can view the full menu on their website below.
