Part of The Fairway in Leigh-on-Sea was temporarily closed this morning due to an incident where a van overturned and landed on its roof.
The collision, which occurred on a straight section of the road with a 30 mph speed limit, left local residents puzzled as to how such an accident could happen in the first place.
Emergency services, including paramedics and police, rushed to the scene at around 7.30 am. One casualty was treated by ambulance crews for minor injuries, and no serious harm was reported.
The overturned vehicle needed to be recovered before the road could be safely reopened, causing some disruption to travel.
An Essex Police spokesperson confirmed the details, saying: “We were called to reports of an overturned vehicle in The Fairway, Leigh, at around 7.30 am this morning. One casualty was assessed at the scene by ambulance service colleagues having suffered some minor injuries. Work was ongoing at the scene while the vehicle was cleared. This has now been completed, and the road is clear.”
The road has since been reopened, and traffic is now flowing normally.
