Detectives have secured a charge of attempted murder against a man, after a violent stabbing in Westcliff that left a victim with serious injuries last weekend.
Charge brought less than a week after attack
Oliver Champion, 20, of Palmerston Road, Westcliff, appeared before Southend Magistrates Court on Friday 14 November. He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Basildon Crown Court on 12 December 2025.
The charge relates to an incident at around 8.30pm on Saturday 8 November, when a man suffered stab wounds following an attack at the junction of Palmerston Road and Station Road.
The location is a busy cut-through between residential streets and transport links, making the timing and visibility of the incident a focus for investigators.
Detectives make second arrest
Police officers have confirmed a second arrest as part of their investigation. A 16-year-old girl has now also been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. She has been released on bail until 6 February while police enquiries continue.
Police appeal for witnesses
Detectives are continuing to appeal for witnesses and anyone with information, particularly those who were in the area between 8pm and 8.50pm on the incident date.
They said: “We are continuing to ask for any witnesses to come forward, particularly anyone who saw any violent or suspicious behaviour in the area between 8pm and 8.50pm.”
