
A police investigation is under way after a man was found injured in the early hours on the seafront at Westcliff.
Emergency services were called to Western Esplanade shortly after 12.05am on Friday 11 July. When officers arrived, they found a man with injuries. He was taken to hospital for treatment.
A spokesperson for Essex Police confirmed:
“We were called to an incident in Western Esplanade shortly after 12.05am on Friday, July 11.
Ambulance service colleagues told us they were with a man who had suffered some injuries.
He was taken on to hospital. Thankfully the injuries have since been deemed not life-threatening or life-changing. An investigation is ongoing into how he came to suffer the injuries and we will be carrying out enquiries in the area.”
A police cordon has been put in place around the scene, near the junction with Shorefield Road. Officers have warned the closure is likely to remain until the afternoon and will cause some local disruption.
“This has necessitated the partial closure of the road, near the junction of Shorefield Road, and this is expected to cause some disruption in this area,” the spokesperson added.
“This closure will likely remain in place until the afternoon and we will issue an update as soon as we possibly can. We thank the public for their patience while this important work continues.”
Police have not confirmed whether anyone has been arrested in connection with the incident. However the force is urging any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
