Southend Airport is bouncing back in a big way following the challenges during the pandemic, and easyJet is at the heart of its resurgence.
easyJet has announced another three new winter routes to Barcelona, Lanzarote, and Salzburg, further strengthening its commitment to the airport ahead of the opening of its new base next month. With the opening of the base, easyJet is expected to continue adding new routes in the coming months, solidifying Southend Airport’s position as a key gateway for leisure travel.
Flights to Barcelona, a city renowned for its stunning beaches, world-class architecture, and vibrant food scene, will operate twice weekly on Thursdays and Sundays from 26 October 2025. Those seeking year-round sunshine can now jet off to Lanzarote three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, starting 27 October 2025. With its volcanic landscapes, golden beaches, and the spectacular Timanfaya National Park, Lanzarote is a hotspot for both adventure and relaxation.
For those dreaming of a winter wonderland, easyJet’s new route to Salzburg, home of Mozart and the backdrop to The Sound of Music, will launch on 6 December 2025, operating twice weekly on Saturdays. Salzburg is a gateway to some of Austria’s top ski resorts and is famed for its enchanting Christmas markets, making it a perfect choice for festive travel.
In addition to these new routes, easyJet is extending nine of its popular summer destinations to operate throughout the winter season. Flights to Gran Canaria, Enfidha (Tunisia), Malta, Faro, Antalya, Tenerife, Marrakech, Malaga, and Palma will now be available all year round, ensuring greater flexibility and choice for travellers across the region.
With its new London Southend base opening next month, easyJet will have three aircraft stationed at the airport, supporting 1,200 jobs, including roles for pilots and cabin crew. The airline now serves a total of 20 destinations from London Southend, reinforcing its commitment to expanding its UK operations.

Ali Gayward, UK Country Manager for easyJet, expressed enthusiasm for the airline’s growing presence at London Southend: “The continued growth of our network from London Southend means we’re now providing customers with even more choice and connectivity throughout the year, including brand new city, beach and ski services to Barcelona, Lanzarote and Salzburg this winter. Our continued investment in the UK with the opening of our newest base at Southend next month highlights the importance of this market for easyJet. We can’t wait to welcome more passengers onboard.”
