
easyJet has announced today that it will operate a new route to Mahon in Menorca from Southend Airport in summer 2015. The new route means a total of thirteen destinations are now offered by easyJet from the airport.
The flights will operate twice a week throughout summer 2015, with the the first flight taking off on 26 June 2015. Tickets go on sale today and easyJet are expecting to fly 500 passengers a week between the Southend Airport and Mahon, the Balearic island’s capital.
Neil Slaven, the Commercial Manager at easyJet in the UK, said: “We’re delighted to be adding another summer holiday destination from Southend Airport. It also highlights our commitment to providing affordable routes for both leisure and business passengers from the airport and we’re sure that it will prove extremely popular.”
Southend Airport’s Chief Commercial Officer, Roger Clements, said: “With our railway station just 100 paces from the terminal building, up to eight trains per hour to London Liverpool Street, a maximum of 4-minutes to go through security and the ‘Best Airport in Britain’ award from Which? magazine for the second year running – and now even more fantastic destinations – it’s no surprise that more and more people are choosing simply easier Southend Airport.”
easyJet, the UK’s largest airline, has bases at 11 UK airports and currently has over 700 routes on sale to destinations across Europe, the Middle East, North Africa and Russia.
The other easyJet routes available from Southend Airport are to Amsterdam, Alicante, Barcelona, Berlin, Faro, Geneva, Ibiza, Jersey, Krakow, Malaga, Majorca, Tenerife and Venice.
