A healthcare assistant at Southend Hospital has been charged with three sexual assault offences against people, whilst working at the hospital.
Twinkle Parappully, 46, of Silverdale Avenue, Westcliff, appeared before Southend Magistrates’ Court on Monday 22 September. He is accused under the Sexual Offences Act 2003 of the following:
- Sexual assault on a female on 20 September 2025
- Assault by penetration on a female on 20 September 2025
- Sexual assault on a male on 23 October 2024
The alleged incidents are said to have taken place while Mr Parappully was working at the hospital.
At his first court appearance, he was granted bail under strict conditions. These include being banned from entering Southend Hospital and being prohibited from seeking employment in healthcare or education. He is scheduled to appear next at Basildon Crown Court on 24 October.
Denise Townsend, Acting Chief Nursing and Quality Officer for Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Southend Hospital, said:
“The safety of our patients, staff and visitors are of paramount importance. Following an alleged incident over the weekend we took immediate action and are working closely with Essex Police.”

Support for victims of sexual abuse or assault in Essex
