Fancy taking on a thrilling challenge and make a difference in the community? The annual ‘Tackle the Tower’ event is back for 2025, inviting brave people to abseil down the 154ft tower block at Southend Hospital, all in the name of charity.
Mark your calendars for Saturday, 17 May – when adrenaline seekers and fundraisers alike will descend the dizzying heights, raising vital funds for the wards and departments closest to their hearts at Southend Hospital, or within Basildon and Broomfield Hospitals.
Abseil to support any hospital ward
Participants have the unique opportunity to make their fundraising personal, choosing which hospital ward or department they want their donations to benefit. Whether it’s the neonatal unit that helped a loved one, the oncology department that’s been a beacon of hope, or any other area close to your heart, your efforts will provide much-needed resources and support.
Elise Fleetwood, Events & Corporate Relations Manager for Mid and South Essex Hospitals Charity, shared the powerful impact the event has:
“The money raised by the brilliant people taking part will make a world of difference. Every penny raised will help provide extra services and facilities for patients, families, and staff across the hospitals, which are part of Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust.”
No experience needed – just a spirit of adventure!
Never abseiled before? No problem! The event is open to anyone over the age of 14, and no prior experience is required. Full training and safety instructions will be given on the day, ensuring every participant can safely enjoy the thrill of the descent.
The registration fee is just £45, and there’s a suggested minimum sponsorship target of £100 – a small price for the chance to make a huge impact in your community.
