Southend City Day is a celebration of the city’s rich heritage, vibrant culture, and incredible community spirit! To mark the occasion, we’re going to give away two VIP weekend passes to the much-anticipated Lazydays Festival in Priory Park this July… to one special person.

This is your opportunity to shine a light on the unsung heroes of Southend – the people who go above and beyond to make life better for others. Whether it’s a friendly neighbour, a dedicated volunteer, or someone who simply spreads positivity wherever they go, we want to hear about them!

How to enter

To nominate a local hero, leave a comment on this Facebook post with their name and tell us why they deserve this special prize. It could be someone who:

  • Regularly picks up shopping for a family member or neighbour
  • Always treats friends to the first round at the pub
  • Provides outstanding care and support to those in need
  • Brings joy to everyone they meet with their kindness and generosity

The competition closes on Friday, 7th March. All nominations will be carefully reviewed by our panel, and one worthy winner will be selected and notified via email.

Lazydays Festival: The summer event you don’t want to miss!

Taking place 25th – 27th July at Priory Park, Lazydays Festival is quickly becoming one of Southend’s biggest summer highlights. With four epic sessions across the weekend, the festival boasts an incredible lineup, featuring some of the biggest names in music:

  • Friday night: Capital Radio DJ MistaJam, Example, Katy B, Judge Jules, and Mat Format
  • Saturday day: Mercury Prize winner Badly Drawn Boy, rising indie star Ellur, Lightning Seeds, and Embrace
  • Saturday night: Britpop legends The Coral, Peter Doherty, The Milk, and Pip Blom
  • Sunday: Soul sensation Maverick Sabre, Soul II Soul, Mica Millar, Norman Jay MBE, kitti, and The Tempo Collective – delivering nine hours of soul music!

A second stage, showcasing emerging artists inside a brand-new tent, is still to be announced – so stay tuned!

Now in its second year, Lazydays Festival is the brainchild of three Southend locals who are passionate about creating an event that truly represents the community.
