Hundreds of motorcyclists came to Southend seafront today, despite no official Shakedown motorcycle event being organised.
Southend City Council placed barriers along the central seafront area to prevent parking.
Parking was available for motorcyclists instead in the Gasworks car park, where hundreds of bikers gathered.
The city council also contracted a team of event management staff to manage the traffic flow.
Essex Police were patrolling the seafront and said they would take firm action if any antisocial driving takes place.
A number of bikes were seized by police for a variety of reasons.
