
A major water main burst in Priory Crescent in Southend, causing flooding to local properties. The incident was first reported at about 5:30pm on Thursday 20 October.
Water has been gushing out of the damaged pipe, down into Priory Crescent and into Priory Park.
Essex Fire & Rescue Service were at the scene throughout the night and asked residents to avoid the area while crews work at the scene. Firefighters tried to manage the flow of water, with emergency engineers from Essex & Suffolk Water dispatched to work on a fix.
Essex & Suffolk Water confirmed the incident affected properties within the following postcodes: SS2, SS1, SS0.

A spokesperson for Essex & Suffolk Water said: “We were made aware of a large burst on a 30inch main on Priory Crescent in Southend, Essex.
“Our teams are in attendance and are working hard to isolate the burst, however they have needed to partially close the road to ensure the work can be carried out safely.
“Some customers in the area may experience low pressure while the repair is taking place through the night. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
