New Southend United football stadium plan approved

A planning application for a brand new 21,000 seater stadium for Southend United Football Club has been approved by Southend Council.

The hybrid application at Fossetts Farm also includes a 107-bed hotel, a new training ground and over 1,400 new homes. Plans for redevelopment at Roots Hall into homes, once the stadium’s relocation is complete, have also been approved.

This second granted application allows for the demolition of the existing Roots Hall stadium and buildings, with a phased erection of nine buildings between 2 and 8 storeys high comprising 502 residential units.
