A man in his 20s was rushed to hospital with a serious head injury, after an incident in Southend High Street on Friday night.
Police were called at around 9.40pm on Friday 11 April to reports of an injured man at the junction of High Street and Weston Road, near the popular Last Post pub. Witnesses described seeing a visible trail of blood on the pavement.
The injured man was treated at hospital for a head wound which, according to Essex Police, was not life-threatening or life-changing, but serious enough to warrant immediate medical attention. He has since been discharged.
A section of the High Street was cordoned off while officers launched an investigation.
No arrests have been made at this stage, and police say they are “progressing a number of lines of enquiry” as they work to establish the full circumstances of what happened.
The incident took place at a time when Southend’s High Street is typically busy with people socialising, and the police hope that someone may have witnessed what happened or caught the incident on camera.
Essex Police are urging anyone who saw the incident or has relevant mobile phone or dashcam footage to come forward. You can contact them by submitting a report via their website or by using the Live Chat service, which is available 24/7 at the bottom right of the homepage at www.essex.police.uk.
