Essex Police dealt with a day of major disorder in Southend City Centre and seafront on Tuesday 1 August.
At least 30 officers were drafted in to monitor the situation as hundreds of youths descended on the seafront.
By the evening, the officers worked to disperse the large groups and lead them towards the city’s train stations.
Police officers dealt with incidents throughout the day, including an assault and anti-social behaviour.
A spokesperson for Essex Police said: “We were called to a disturbance which was taking place shortly after 4.20pm, Tuesday, August 1.
“As officers attempted to engage with the group, there were a number of flashpoints, but thankfully no serious incidents took place.
“A dispersal order was put in place to ensure the safety of the public and we worked alongside colleagues from Southend-on-Sea City Council and British Transport Police to ensure the situation remained under control.
“All elements of the group had dispersed by shortly before 9pm and there were no further incidents of disorder.
“One teenage girl was arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker and a public order offence. She has been released under investigation.”
