This is the remarkable story of ‘Tenny the Octopus’, who was found laying on a c2c railway track, having fallen from the pram of its owner.
The soft octopus toy was spotted by a commuter last week, laying on the tracks in a c2c train platform at West Ham.
Andrew Elliott said: “I saw this poor fella laying next to the tracks. I felt awful so I went back and asked for him to be picked up.”
Train station staff then retrieved Tenny the Octopus, and a day later, Andrew collected him and took him home for a wash.
Andrew disinfected and thoroughly washed Tenny, and then set about trying to find his owner via social media.
He posted online: “I appreciate this is a long shot, but I figure I may as well try. I’d love to try and find his rightful owner, if anyone knows anything about someone losing an octopus recently, please message me as soon as you can.”
To his surprise, Tenny’s owner was located!
A mother came forward and said: “Thank-you so so much! My son was so upset when Tenny was dropped. He is such a loved teddy. He has loved seeing all your pictures showing how well Tenny has been looked after.”
Andrew then arranged to safely package and post Tenny back to his “best friend” owner.
He thanked everyone for helping find Tenny’s owner and said: “Remember folks, a bear is for life. Or in this case, an octopus.”
