Protestors held a demonstration in Rochford this morning whilst a 100-year-old Oak tree was cut down by property developers.
The group of environmental activists gathered at the tree on Ashingdon Road, along with police and private security contractors from the property developer, Bloor Homes.
Campaign group Save Holt Farm Oak Tree had been living in the 100-year-old oak tree by Holt Farm junior and infant schools since October 2022.
The tree was felled by developer Bloor Homes to make way for a new road layout, after the firm was given permission to build 662 new homes nearby.
Protesters moved into the tree in an attempt to save it from being felled, but after losing a legal battle at court, they were ordered to vacate the tree or risk fines and even potential imprisonment.
